Meet Our Officers and Board Members
CLUB OFFICERS
Patricia Duffy, president. Pat has more than 40 years of experience working with youth groups, including CYO, Campfire Girls, 4H, and US Pony Club. For the past 10 years, Pat has been the District Commissioner of Redwood Pony Club. Pat is also a member of the US Pony Club’s Tetrathlon Committee and a Board Director on the Marin Horse Council.
Connie Ballard, secretary. Connie is a writer and editor with experience in books, newspapers, magazines, Web sites, and marketing. She was the secretary of Redwoods Pony Club for four year and has helped organize clinics and competitions for both tetrathlon and pentathlon over the last eight years.
Beth Reizman, treasurer. Beth is a Senior Vice President with Bank of Marin. Beth has organized local swim meets the last 15 years and has officiated at many tetrathlon and pentathlon swim competitions.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Mike Duffy, chair. Mike is a retired executive with the federal government, with experience in finance, law enforcement, and organization innovation. Mike has served as the shooting steward for regional US Pony Club Tetrathlon competitions for the last seven years. Mike has coached youth football and boys baseball and girl’s softball and soccer teams. Mike and his wife, Pat, have been involved with youth groups for the last 40 years.
Vic Reizman, parent director. Vic, a retired banker, is currently serving as a director of Circle Bank in Novato, CA, and of American California Bank in San Francisco, CA. Vic has also been actively involved in the swim community as a coach and official and has organized the swim event for many tetrathlon and pentathlon competitions. Vic, a former competitive shooter, has also helped coach and officiate in the shooting events for tetrathlon and pentathlon.
Thar Casey, parent director. Thar is an entrepreneur and an executive with more than 19 years of senior management experience, ranging from small startups to large publicly traded companies. He is currently president and founder of Phantom Solutions International. Thar holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Hayward.
Steve Chase, parent director. Steve has a BS degree from UC Irvine and a Doctor of Dental Surgery , University of Southern California. He has been practicing general dentistry for 20 years. Steve played baseball for 12 years, including the college level. Steve has been a baseball coach for 8 years and is currently teaching the art of hitting. Steve is an active golfer and road bike riding.
Nathalie Guion, coach director. Nathalie is a professional riding instructor with 15 years of experience managing riding schools, pony clubs, pony camps and private barns. She was educated at the prestigious French Equestrian School, as well as the renowned National Riding School at Saumur, France. She has been the coach for Redwoods Pony Club for the last 10 years and has seen her Pony Clubbers achieve many top regional and national honors.
Marisa Berger, athlete director. Marisa, an Art History/Chemistry major at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, has medaled many times in modern pentathlon, both regionally and nationally. She’s also competed internationally and has been invited to several World Championships. Additionally, Marisa is an experienced equestrian who has won several championships on the A circuit. With her strong organizational skills and her insights as an athlete, Marisa has been a vital part of the West Coast Pentathlon team. Marisa loves working with children and has mentored many young athletes.
Jimmy Reizman, athlete director. Jimmy is a Junior at Marin Catholic High School. When he is not busy winning Pentathlon competitions, he is winning shooting competitions and playing on his high school water polo team.
